What is Cryotherapy?
Whole Body Cryotherapy is a revolutionary treatment that involves exposing the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period of time. This process helps to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote overall wellness. Cryotherapy is a non-invasive therapy that triggers the body’s natural fight or flight response to accelerate recovery and decrease inflammation throughout body. After just 3 minutes of exposure to the extreme cold, you will notice a boost in energy, relief of muscle and/or joint pain, and many other positive benefits. You can get benefits from just one session of cryotherapy, but it’s most effective when used regularly.

The Science Behind Cryotherapy
Whole Body Cryotherapy involves the entire body getting exposed to very cold temperatures. By doing so, the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response is activated, and endorphins are released, which directly activates your pain relief mechanisms. Due to this process, you produce more highly oxygenated blood, which increases your body’s strength, stamina, and ability to repair itself.
Step 1
Cryotherapy involves the use of liquid nitrogen to lower the skin’s surface temperature over a period of three minutes.
Step 2
During the session, your body will enter a state of thermogenesis, which stimulates the release of endorphins and reduces pain and inflammation.
Step 3
After the session, you will feel rejuvenated and experience a boost in energy, improved mood, accelerated recovery and a better nights sleep.

Who should not use Whole Body Cryotherapy?
The following conditions are contraindications to whole body cryotherapy: Pregnancy, severe Hypertension (BP> 180/100), acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis, acute or recent cerebrovascular accident, uncontrolled seizures, Raynaud’s Syndrome, fever, tumor disease, symptomatic lung disorders, bleeding disorders, severe anemia, infection, claustrophobia, cold allergy, age less than 18 years (parental consent to treatment needed), acute kidney and urinary tract diseases.
Is it comfortable?
The cryotherapy treatment is of short, 3-minute session and the cold air is ‘dry’, so it is very tolerable. Towards the end of the treatment, you may get a ‘pins and needles’ sensation, which disappears almost immediately after the treatment.
How do I feel afterwards?
During each 3-minute session the body releases endorphins. The endorphins help mask pain, make you feel full of energy and elevate your mood.
How many sessions do I need?
Depending on your needs, we typically recommend 3-5 sessions in a week to maximize your results. After that, we recommend “listening” to your body to judge the effectiveness of the response and we can help tailor a program specific to your needs.
What are the risks of Whole Body Cryotherapy?
Whole body cryotherapy is well-tolerated and has minimal risks. You may see a fluctuation in blood pressure during the procedure by up to 10 points (this effect reverses after the end of the procedure). Other risks include redness and skin burn, claustrophobia and in rare cases, allergic reaction to extreme cold.
